The Ayala Foundation projects are focus on primary education, that would be from kindergarten through grade six, and seek to bridge the gap between privileged and underserved students, especially in terms of access to quality public education. By building partnerships and taking a multi-stakeholder approach, the foundation hope to provide a nurturing learning environment (Center of Excellence in Public Elementary Education, CENTEX), high quality multimedia educational materials (Text2Teach) for public elementary school students, and an opportunity for continued professional development for teachers and principals (Training Institute).
The Center of Excellence in Public Elementary Education (CENTEX) is a public school learning environment where bright children from economically disadvantaged families receive quality education and the necessary support to give them the opportunity for a better life.
The CENTEX operates two public schools, Tondo in Manila and the other is in Bauan in Batangas. The school operate by virtue of a Memorandum of Agreement between the Department of Education and Ayala Foundation Inc.
The CENTEX curriculum emphasizes language arts, math, science, values, environment and being a Filipino. The idea for a CENTEX was developed when the Ayala Foundation was hard put to find candidates for its scholarship program in technical and vocational education.
Graduates from public high schools have to be coached and tutored, to help them pass the qualifying examinations and survive the two year course. Read more http://www.centex.org.ph/main.asp
