The mission of the Philippine Navy is to organize, train, equip, maintain, develop and deploy forces for prompt and sustained naval and maritime operations to accomplish the AFP mission.

 

The Philippine Navy or Hukbong Dagat ng Pilipinas is the naval warfare service branch of the Armed Forces of the Philippines and one of the three uniformed services of the Philippines. In July 21 2017, President Rodrigo Duterte, through the Department of Budget and Management (DBM), provided 600 million to the Philippine Navy for the purchase of speed boats to be used for the intensified surveillance and patrol actions along the southern sea borders of the country.

 




 

Eligibility for the Basic Seaman Course (BSC)

  • Must be a natural born Filipino citizen and of good moral character.
  • Must be between 18-23 years old.
  • Unmarried and with no child to support.
  • Holder of at least 72 units in college (preferably technical courses) or Technical Education and Skills Development Authority National Certificate II (TESDA NC II).
  • Height requirement is 5’0″ for both Male and Female.
  • Must not have any pending civil / criminal case.
  • Physically and mentally fit for training.
  • Must have complete four front (anterior teeth) and at least three molars (back teeth) on both upper and lower jaws.
  • Must pass the AFP Service Aptitude Test (AFPSAT) and IQ examination

  • Original and Photocopy of NSO Birth Certificate
  • Original and Photocopy of Transcript of Records
  • Original and Photocopy of College Diploma
  • 2×2 colored ID Picture with white Background
  • Accomplished Application Form

 

 

 

Eligibility for the Marine Basic Course (MBC)

  • Must be a Filipino Citizen and of Good Moral character.
  • Must be 18-23 years old.
  • Unmarried and with no child to support.
  • Holder of at least 72 units in college or graduate of any TESDA course (TESDA Certificate, Enrollment Report and Terminal Records)
  • Height of at least 5’4″ (male) and 5’2″ (female)
  • Must not have any pending civil / criminal case.
  • Physically, Mentally and Psychiological fit for military training.

 

 

Requirements

  • Birth Certificate (NSO)
  • High School Diploma
  • Transcript of Records if at least 72 units in College and if high school graduate with TESDA Certificate
  • 2×2 Picture with white background

 

 

Benefits for Sailors

  • Basic pay of P14,834.00
  • Additional monthly allowance of P5,750 pay.
  • Longevity pay 10% of the current monthly base pay compounded every five years of active military service.

The modern Navy has expanded its roles beyond the initial mandate to protect the country’s shores, which include

  • Securing the Philippine maritime areas from all forms of intrusions and encroachment, piracy and drug trafficking;
