How To Get An SSS Calamity Loan Assistance?

The Calamity Loan Assistance Program (CLAP) is a separate loan window from the regular salary loan program where members can borrow up to P16,000 largely depending on their SSS monthly salary credit and amount of contribution. The loan is payable in 2 years in equal monthly installments with an annual interest rate of 10% and 1% monthly penalty for late payments.


The CLAP is available to all members with home address or property in a declared calamity area by the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council. A total of at least 36 monthly contributions, of which 6 were paid within the 12 month period preceding the date of application is required for them to qualify.


Qualified OFW members may assign a representative to file for their application, provided that an authorization letter is prepared.


Members who have outstanding loans under the Loan Restructuring Program (LRP) and previous CLAPs, as well as those receiving pensions for total permanent disability and retirement are not qualified under this new CLAP.


Members can file their calamity loan applications over the counter at any SSS Branch. The loan must be fully paid before the member can avail of another calamity loan in the future.



Members can pick up their calamity loan check at the SSS Branch where they filed their application.




The employed member’s employer must be updated in the payment of contributions and loan remittances


The member must have at least 36 posted monthly contributions, the 6 of which should be posted within the last 12 months prior to the month of filing of application


The member must be a resident of the calamity declared areas and suffered losses/ damages to their properties


The member must be a resident who has a home address/ property at the stricken area


The member must have not been granted at any final benefit, such as total permanent disability, retirement and death, at the time of application


The member shall not have an outstanding restructured loan under the SSS Loan Restructuring Program (LRP) or outstanding Calamity Loan Assistance Program (CLAP)


The application for calamity loan assistance shall be filed within 3 months from the issuance of the circular


The loan amount shall be equivalent to 1 month salary credit (MSC) computed based on the average of the last 12 MSCs or the total amount of damages as certified by the member in the application form



Repayment and schedule of payment

The loan shall be payable within 2 years in 24 equal monthly installments


The monthly amortization shall start on the second month following the date of loan, which is due on or before the payment deadline




The loan shall be charged an interest rate of 10% per annum computed on a diminishing principal balance


Any excess in the amortization payment shall be applied to the outstanding principal balance




Loan amortization payments not remitted on due date shall bear the penalty of 1% per month until fully paid


If the loan is not fully paid at the end of the term, interest of 10% per annum and penalty of 1% per month shall continue to be charged on the outstanding principal balance until fully paid



Service fee

Service fee of 1% shall be waived

Verification of the loan status may be made through the SSS Website. The default mode of payment for members with activated UMID ATM Card is the UMID ATM Card. The loan shall be directly credited to the SSS issued UMID ATM account.
