University Of The Visayas ETEEAP Alternative Education Competency Award

The University of the Visayas was founded by the late Don Vicente Gullas in 1919 as the Visayan Institute in Cebu City. Today, it has grown into an 8 campus, province wide system of higher education and lower level laboratory schools. The main campus in Cebu City, with a 6 multi story building includes a gymnasium, and occupies almost one city block at the Colon, D. Jakosalem and Sanciangko Streets. The College of Dentistry and Nursing are located in a separate campus in Banilad, Mandaue City at the site of the Vicente Gullas Memorial Hospital and the Gullas College of Medicine.

 

The university is the first in the country to offer a Study Now Pay Later Plan to poor and deserving students from 1965 to 1975. It has established international linkages with Stitching Zorginstellenger Rijswijk Nursing Homes in Netherlands for exchange training programs and employment of nursing alumni.

 





The University of the Visayas, being deputized by the Commission on Higher Education, implements the ETEEAP with four authorized colleges that can award ETEEAP degrees, namely: Business Administration, Criminology, Engineering and Architecture and Graduate School.

 

The Expanded Tertiary Equivalency and Accreditation Program (ETEEAP) is an educational assessment scheme which recognizes knowledge, skills, and prior learning obtained by individuals from non-formal and formal educational experiences. The university has four deputized colleges that can award degrees through ETEEAP, namely the Business Administration, Criminology, Engineering and Architecture.

 

The UV ETEEAP just recently received the Government Authority to offer additional programs for Bachelor of Elementary Education and Bachelor of Secondary Education. (GA No. 004 series of 2017). This program is non-refundable.

In June 11, 1999, The University of the Visayas was awarded the certificate of authorization by the Commission on Higher Education to accredit, provide equivalency to, and/or certify the pertinent work experiences, knowledge or expertise acquired by individuals through formal, non-formal or informal means and to confer appropriate academic degree in BS in Criminology, Engineering, Commerce and Education in accordance with the policies set forth by the Commission as stated in Section 5 and 6 of the “Policies and Guidelines on the Implementation of the Expanded Tertiary Education Equivalency and Accreditation Program (ETEEAP) pursuant to Executive Order 330 dated May 10, 1996.

 

ETEEAP is an alternative education delivery mode promulgated through Executive Order 330, issued by President Fidel V. Ramos on May 13, 1996. Since its inception, deputized higher educational institutions are given authorization by the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) to conduct competency based evaluation and award appropriate degrees to deserving individuals.

 

The University of the Visayas is deputized by the Commission on Higher Education to offer the following programs under Expanded Tertiary Education Equivalency and Accreditation program (ETEEAP):

 

  1. Criminology
  2. Engineering and Architecture
  3. Business Administration
  4. EDUCATION (GA No. 004 series of 2017)

Bachelor of Elementary Education

Bachelor of Secondary Education

 

 

Eligibility

Any Filipino who must have, at least graduated from high school, or must have  obtained or passed the Philippine Education Placement Test (PEPT) equivalent to first year college;

 

One who must have been employed for at least five (5) years in the field or industry related to the academic program or discipline for which he/she is obtaining an equivalency for a Bachelor’s Degree;

He/she must be, at least 25 years old for a Bachelor’s Degree

 




One who is able to show evidence, capability, and thorough knowledge in the field for which equivalency is applied. He/she must submit any of the following evidences:

  1. a) Certificates of proficiency issued by a government regulatory body,

 

  1. b) Certificates of proficiency issued by the employer(s),

 

  1. c) Certificate of proficiency issued by a licensed practitioner in the field or

 

  1. d) A business registration.
